Who We Are

Our Mission

Rooted in the love of Jesus Christ, we worship together, pray for the concerns of the world, and nourish and serve our neighbors, especially CU Boulder.

Our Vision and values

We seek to build Beloved Community next door to CU Boulder, from a heart of Christian worship, that is welcoming and inclusive, feeds and serves our neighbors, and cultivates partnerships for sustainable good.

Joyful Worship + Beloved Community + Campus Facing Love + Sustainability + Collaborative Service

We gather together to worship God in prayer, song, reflection, and communion with one another.  Some services are quiet and formal, and others are not. All are open to everyone from all walks of life. Sometimes big and wonderful things happen, like baptisms, weddings, and confirmations. Often, when we gather, though, it’s to observe the ordinary transformation of human hearts and lives into beloved children of God.

When you come to St. Aidan’s for the first time, you’ll be greeted by an usher or clergy who will give you a bulletin that will guide you through our service, with the page numbers for The Book of Common Prayer and the 1982 Hymnal. It might seem complicated at first, so be sure to ask an usher or anyone in the congregation for help.

History

In the fall of 2023, St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church celebrated our 75th Anniversary. It was the generosity and planning of diocesan and lay leaders that led to the establishment of St. Aidan’s Chapel and the beginning of our church’s ministry to the students, faculty, and staff of the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1948. Father Pat, the Rev. A. Balfour Patterson, Jr., was our first chaplain, first vicar, and first rector, serving in a leadership role for 27 years.

His tenure as rector was followed by Father Ron Resley, Father David Mustian, Father Ron Albert, Father Don K. Henderson, Father Ray Smith, and currently, The Rev. Mary Kate Réjouis. Many other clergy and a countless number of lay people have called St. Aidan’s home over more than seven decades of worshipping Christ and shining His light to CU, Boulder, and the world.
