St. Aidan's offers many opportunities for you to experience the joy of ministering to others in Christ's name. We invite you to join us in these ministries, which provide study, service, fellowship, and worship. Our ministry leaders always welcome volunteers. Acolytes carry our cross and torches and assist our clergy with other liturgical duties during services. Anyone above age seven can be an acolyte. Adults help train and schedule acolytes for service. E-mail Greta Frohbieter.
Adult Christian Formation and Bible Study:Adult Christian Formation and Bible Study: St. Aidan's offers several opportunities focused around the study of Scripture. These include Sunday Morning Adult Christian Formation, Monday Prayer Group, Wednesday Morning Lectionary Bible Study at 7:00 am, Wednesday Bible Study at 10:30 am, Wednesday Morning Book Group at 10:30am (this fall studying The Brothers Karamazov), and occasional mid-week evening gatherings for Adult Christian Formation, and Men of St. Aidan's on the first Saturday morning of each month at 7:30am. Aidan Comfort is our parish's monthly Newsletter. The submission deadline for the Aidan Comfort is the third Friday of each month. E-mail submissions to the Church Office or call 303-443-2503.
Altar Guild prepares our altar, vestments, and elements for worship services. They also decorate our church for major feasts such as Easter and Christmass. Co-chairs are Sidney Goodwin and Marilyn Voorhis [email altarguild@saintaidans.org] or call the Church Office for more information.
Children's Christian Formation offers an array of activities and programs for all family members. The Nursery is staffed on Sunday mornings from 7:55am until the end of the 10:15am service. Youth Bible Study (13 and older) meets most Sunday afternoons at 3:30pm. Children in grades 1-8 attend Children’s Chapel at 10:15am in the Chapel joining their families in Church during the Holy Eucharist. E-mail the Church office for more information.
The choir sings at our 10:15am am Rite II service on Sunday and at special services and concerts. We rehearse in our choir loft on Wednesday evenings and on Sunday mornings in the choir room from 9:15am to 10:00am Our master Calendar lists exact times of choir rehearsals and special events. Community of the Cross of Nails is an ecumenical group devoted to the practice and study of reconciliation. E-mail or call the Church Office 303-443-2503, or check our master Calendar for our schedule.
Our e-Bulletin is e-mailed to parish members and friends twice weekly to advise them of upcoming service schedules and special activities, to publish timely and pertinent information, list Bible lectionaries, and otherwise inform everyone of activities in our parish. Elder Care Ministry assists older adults and their families working together to anticipate, plan for, and provide the loving care that they may need, as they grow older. This program also helps mid-life adults plan their own future. Occasional workshops, called As Families Grow Older, are provided to the community to provide education and assistance with planning for the later phases of life, living, and dying. Endowment Committee works to grow the St. Aidan's Endowment Fund, manage the Fund, and distribute the earnings for Vestry use. E-mail John Alderson.
Episcopal Ministries to CU Boulder ( University of Colorado-Boulder ) is a eucharistically-centered ministry that supports college students and young adults by prayer, Bible studies, fun, meals and fellowship. Contact The Rev. Dustin Berg, Campus Chaplain for more information
The Christos Institute, founded in 1996, is an outreach to the CU campus for integrating issues of faith and academic study. Each semester, public lectures are offered on campus by faculty and other guests on a variety of topics. Contact EMCUBadmin@saintaidans.org for more information.
Fruitcake Bake: Our ministry has raised significant funds for St. Aidan's each Christmas since 1951. We're big time producers and make lots of dough! Although we can be a little nutty and mixed up at times, we have tons of fun, so come join us! We are always looking for folks who are out to have a good time, want to share Christian fellowship, and spread Christmas cheer. E-mail Grace Pierce.
Hospitality is responsible for organizing Sunday coffee hours and for providing food for special occasions such as the brunch at the Annual Meeting. E-mail Gillian Brown.
Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEM) and Lectors: LEMs serve the Chalice to communicants on Sundays and at special services. LEM's are also trained as lectors and sometimes read the lessons. The Bishop must license LEMs after they receive training. At least one LEM remains at the altar with the clergy and acolytes during Sunday services to assist as needed. Lectors read lessons during the services. They need not be licensed, but do receive training. Anyone interested in either of these ministries should e-mail Greta Frohbieter.
Lay Eucharistic Visitors (LEV): LEVs are trained laity licensed by the Bishop to bring to Holy Eucharist to parishioners unable to attend services due to illness or infirmity. After Sunday services they go out in teams of two, usually a man and a woman, one of whom must be licensed. Listening and Visiting in Christ is a trained team of parishioners who visit designated shut-ins. E-mail Louise Alderson.
Men of St. Aidan meets monthly on the first Saturday morning in the parish hall for breakfast, Christian fellowship, and informal Bible discussion. E-mail Jim Paine .
The Art and Architecture Commission, in consultation with our Rector and Vestry, helps preserve and beautify St. Aidans' physical facilities, interior and exterior, including long-term renovations, improvements and additions. Subcommittees oversee wall decoration and banners, landscaping and spring cleanup, along with oversight of the Columbarium and Garth. In the past, we have handled historical memorabilia regarding St. Aidan's, and have access to considerable archival material. The Memorial Gifts
committee, which is part of the Art and Architecture Commission, consults with families wishing to offer memorial gifts or other contributions, and gratefully acknowledge such funds and gifts. E-mail Junior Warden, Warren Taylor .
Natterers meet the third Saturday morning of each month for fellowship and fun while crocheting, knitting, mending, quilting or sewing. E-mail Mollie Lee.
Navajoland Mission Partnership is one of our major outreach programs. Since 1991, volunteers from Boulder have traveled to southeastern Utah over spring break to offer a Christian education program to children and adults in two Navajo congregations. The trip includes daily worship and time to explore the red rock desert around Bluff, Utah. Volunteers are needed to teach, cook, work on computers, and provide other services. The Outreach Commission directs all Outreach programs beyond CU Boulder and Navajoland Mission Partnership. Our Outreach programs are active locally and far beyond the Boulder area. They include African Team Ministries, Emergency Family Assistance Association, Episcopal Relief and Development, Habitat for Humanity, holiday food baskets, Family to Family, Joycare Center at the First Christian Church, which provides affordable childcare for infants and preschool children for working parents during weekdays, Kenyan Children's Fund, St. Francis Center shelter for the homeless in Denver, and United Thank Offering (UTO). Pastoral Care ministries call and visit shut-ins and provide care and support for the elderly, including arranging transportation to church. Three ministries, Elder Care, Lay Eucharistic Visitors, and Listening and Visiting in Christ, are active in our Pastoral Care program. They are explained elsewhere on this web page. Prayer, Healing and Wholeness Prayer, Healing and Wholeness coordinates healing services, prayer groups, healing workshops, healing book discussion group, and Order of St. Luke activities. This group supports a service of Holy Eucharist and healing service each Wednesday noon in our Chapel. E-mail Ann Stegall or Nicholas Lee.
Stewardship is about more than asking people to commit their financial support during the annual pledge campaign. Stewardship also helps parishioners identify their talents. The essential link between one's spiritual health and one's commitment to giving and serving Christ and His church is central to this ministry. E-mail Senior Warden Bill Kaempfer.
Totally Elegant Dinner and Silent Auction: The late Terrie Stewart, a St. Aidan's parishioner who wanted to create a memorable fundraiser for our parish, started the Totally Elegant Dinner in the early 1990s. She succeeded famously! Our dinner typically occurs once a year and is our parish's largest fundraiser. It features wonderful food, fine entertainment, great social interaction and a good time bidding on auction items of varying value. E-mail Beverly Shaw.
Ushers welcome worshipers, distribute service bulletins, take our plate offering, assist people at Communion, and tidy up our church after services. E-mail Keith Murdock.
Volunteer Opportunities: Countless opportunities exist to help with clerical and administrative tasks in the Church Office. No special skills are required. Our need is great! E-mail or call the Church Office 303-443-2503. We also have a continuing need to do a variety of odd jobs around our Parish.
Wednesday Morning Lectionary Bible Study: Wednesday Morning Eucharist and Breakfast Join us for a 7am Holy Eucharist including a discussion of the scriptures that is in-depth and done in dialogue, followed by toast and coffee and a Bible Study for those who can stay longer. E-mail Nicholas Lee.
